future self,
I have some questions for you.
Do you have a job? Where do you live? Do you work out as often as you should? Still use organic facewash because it seems like the right thing to do? Have you taken up yoga? How often do you dance? Work up the courage to cut your hair short (GASP)? Please tell me you find time to read.
I suppose its up to me to get you there. I wish I could see ahead...

it's essentially a board with a clip
I wish clipboards were still fashion forward. It used to be that the person carrying the clipboard was the one in charge. As a child, I dreamed of carrying the clipboard. I’m so proud of the person who invented the clipboard. It’s so impressively literal.
Now, it appears “clipboard” is some software tool. I won’t go into details (mainly because I can’t), but...

joyeuses paques!!!
CSL writes: “There is a stage in a child’s life at which it cannot separate the religious from the merely festal character of Christmas or Easter. I have been told of a very small and very devout boy who was heard murmuring to himself Easter morning a poem of his own composition which began, “Chocolate eggs and Jesus risen.” This seems to me, for his age, both admirable...
goodness and love
“Come let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth…”...

measuring productivity
Rachel and I decided that you’ve technically had a productive day when you have a product to show for it.
I picked up knitting about four months ago and I began with a simple red scarf. Tonight, four months later, I finished that scarf. I had to finish tonight because tomorrow threatens to be the last cold day of the season, and I’ll look ridiculous if I wear a thick red knit scarf...

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far...
– Frost, “A Prayer in Spring” (I think if we examined the things that really bring us joy, we’d be surprise ourselves. It would be a lot easier to find small doses of happiness each day to tie us over. Keep us here, in the flowers to-day.)
Rachel gave me a ride to class today
I know—prettiest day of the year and I got a ride to class. Glad to see everyone was enjoying the weather. BUT. You know those days when nobody is enjoying the weather? Nobody is enjoying it so that makes me feel better that I’m not. She’s mad that she forgot her umbrella too… Poor guy wore the wrong shoes… Her hair can’t handle this either. Sometimes I wonder...

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again? Well. Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow and when it’s time you’ll know. Boom. Boom. Boom. Even brighter than the moon. Moon. Moon.
What would it mean for a plastic bag to start again? Back to the grocery store? Only take advice from Ms. Katie Perry if feeling like a toxic plastic bag...

Four girls sitting at a table in Mellow Mushroom. I get up to use the bathroom and this conversation takes place in my absence.
Waiter: Well the hard part is figuring out how we’re going to split these.
Hannah: Well she went to the bathroom so that’s easy!

typisch
I like being woken up by the garbage truck. It takes me a minute to realize what all the clanging is outside of my window, but eventually it contrasts well with the fact that I’m in bed and I’m not working (yet). It’s probably cold outside.

invisible alarm clock
I’m on the hunt for a space heater. But I want one with an alarm clock, because I can’t get out of bed in the morning. Given the carrying capacity of my room, I can’t possibly provide for two new electronic devices.
I only have space for one.
If I get the space heater, it will be easier to get out of bed in the morning and I may not even need the alarm clock.
If I get the...

Juliette says “oh well.” She doesn’t deny it.
Well what do Germans spend money on?
Cars and houses. Investments.
